Our students often play gigs in Helena including First Friday, Helena Farmer's Market, and Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Spring and Fall Bazaar.

Lessons are fast-paced and geared towards helping you to play the music that you want sooner.
Beginner classes focus on reading treble and bass clef, basic rhythms, simple scales, chords, and arpeggios.
While we focus on bands and singing and playing more than most traditional piano studios, we also excel in lessons for young students starting at age 7. Beginner lessons for young students follow a steady curriculum designed to take them from complete beginner to anywhere they want to go. Our piano teachers are great with young kids and we continually receive a lot of positive feedback from our younger students and families.
Our piano curriculum is divided into 5 levels, and students receive a well rounded education allowing them to not only play classical piano, but chords and are able to accompany playing any type of music. Students are able to identify and play all major and minor chords within a few weeks and are able to play along with their favorite songs using chord charts. Other focuses may include playing lead sheets (written treble clef melody with right hand and chords with left hand) or continuing to work through lesson books to gain a deeper understanding of reading music and the piano.
Students have the opportunity to perform with stickandstrum bands or acoustic acts at local gigs
and also have the opportunity to play in studio events at stickandstrum.
