"I like guitar lessons with Shane because I learn something new every week. My favorite thing to learn is chords. Right now I am learning how to play Teardrops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift.
It is really fun! I especially like that song because I get to sing and
play. I love playing my guitar!!!" -Caroline, 10 years old
"Shane has been teaching guitar to our son Christopher for over 2 years and piano to our son Jacob for 6 months. The boys love taking lessons from Shane. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to music and he strives to make learning an instrument fun. Shane often allows the boys to pick the songs that they want to try to learn. This makes it more enjoyable for them. Music lessons have also helped to teach them discipline and organization. Since the boys weren't always consistant with practicing, Shane created a tracking sheet for their practices. Now, they are much more responsible with practicing. All these traits, discipline, organization and responsibility have transferred to other areas of their lives. I believe music adds so much to an individual's life.
Shane is also very patient. Our son Jacob has Asperger's Syndrome. Shane asked questions so he knew Jacob and what to expect and what could be done for lessons to work well for him. This allowed Jacob's lessons to go smoothly from the start. In addition to being an amazing music instructor, Shane is a wonderful role model for our boys. He has good morals, leads a good life, and is young enough that they can relate to him. We feel very blessed to have him teaching our boys such the wonderful skill of a musical instrument." -- Debbie Brady |
"My son, Chase, has been taking lessons from Shane for three years now. We could not be happier with Shane as a guitar instructor and as a role model for our teenage son. Shane is patient, encouraging, and a wonderful teacher. He has allowed Chase to develop his own interests in the music he likes to play, while developing in him the ability to be able to play it. He has learned at a fast enough clip to keep his interest, yet Shane has encouraged him to back off if his schedule gets too hectic, but his encouragement not to stop has kept Chase anxious to learn more. Shane is enthusiastic and very talented himself. He definitely commands the respect of his students, but is able to relate to them in a unique way that satisfies student and parent. The recitals showcase Shane's ability as a teacher and as a person. He is very invested in his students, gives them his very best, and it shows. Many times I hear Chase upstairs practicing and have to ask if that is really him. I believe the gift of music is one of the best gifts you can give your children and one they will appreciate even more as they get older. Thank you Shane!" - Annette Vourlotis
"Our two sons are currently taking guitar from Shane. Wes is on his fourth year and Cam is on his first year. We are impressed by what Shane has taught them. Not only have they learned a lot, but Shane introduces them to a variety of music and makes it enjoyable for them. Shane also does a wonderful job challenging our boys and gives them the confidence to try difficult songs." - Ron and Lisa Sparkman
"Our son Justin started drum lessons with Shane about two years ago. Shane is amazingly patient. He encourages his students, but he doesn't rush them or push them faster than they are able. He doesn't just teach them how to hit the drums; he helps them learn proper stick grip and stick use, posture while playing, and placement and use of feet on pedals. He even demonstrates music, so students understand how the music should sound. Shane is a great teacher -- Justin has done very well with drums, and he enjoys his lessons with Shane." -- Russ & Angela Barakat
