Frequently Asked Questions
- How much are Lessons?
Please click here to see our pricing options! We offer both private and group lessons.
- Do I need to buy an instrument if I don't have one?
Nope! We provide instruments for all of our classes if you do not own one. We do rent our instruments out if you'd like to take them home between lessons to practice! All of the instruments you see (with a few exceptions) are for sale! We recommend that all students have an instrument for their own personal growth and practice, but it is not required. We do have recommendations for each instrument here on our website! Go to our home page, and click the instrument option you're looking for to see our recommendations.
- Where are you located?
We are in Riverchase, on the Pelham/Hoover Line! We are directly off of Old Highway 31, across from Riverchase Automotive.
- What age do you begin lessons?
We teach students of all ages!
We offer private drum, ukulele, piano, and guitar lessons for ALL ages! Each lesson is tailored to fit the student's musical ability, age, and interests. At Stickandstrum, we believe no one is too young or too old to learn to play an instrument!
Preschool classes are for students 1 to 5 years old! From our Mommy & Me class to our Little Rockers class, there's something for everyone!
Classes and camps are split up by ages. Once students enroll in a class or camp, they are split into small groups by age and skill-level. Group classes and camps are for students of all ages!

- How do group classes work?
In each class, students are divided up into groups of 2 - 4 students. We pair students together with others around their age and skill level.
Group learning encourages students to build friendships and to work together! Students will learn new songs and skills in each class.
Instruments are provided for classes! Instruments are also available for rent to take home between lessons!

- How long are lessons?
Lessons are typically 30 minutes. During this time, students are able to review their lesson from the previous week and learn something new to practice in the upcoming week. If you are interested in having a longer lesson or learning multiple instruments, please reach out to us!
In order to get the most out of lessons, we ask that guitar and ukulele students arrive a few minutes early to set up and tune their instruments before lessons begin.

Yes! We will get them started and work with them every step along the way.
- Is it too late to sign up for a class that has already started?
Nope! If a class is still open for enrollment, we would love to have you!
