Ukulele Lessons
Is there an instrument that is more fun and less threatening than the ukulele? I think not. The ukulele is an easy and fun instrument to learn with lots of possibility and room to grow. It is a great starter instrument and also a great second (or third!) instrument to pick up as it relates easily to guitar.
At our Riverchase studio (on the Pelham, AL and Hoover, AL line), beginner students work through our unique curriculum that focusses on three crucial areas of uke playing: playing chords, reading treble clef, and reading ukulele tab. Through the process we also begin working on songs of the student's choice. Ukulele Students have the opportunity to play at local gigs around town and for studio events at stickandstrum. |
After students learn the basics, most choose to work on singing and playing. While there are a few cool songs out there that feature the ukulele, we focus on taking just about any song and turning it into a ukulele cover. Other options include working on classical or other melodies with a focus on reading treble clef or tablature or combining tab reading and chords with fun arrangements of popular songs, like You Got a Friend in Me.
